The construction industry in Germany, and in particular the medium-sized construction companies are characterised by very conservative corporate structures. For example, the participation of employees in company development, the motivation to innovate and the participation in their implementation exist only in exceptional cases. As a result, the SME construction industry is far below the average of other sectors, such as SME (Small to Medium-Sized Enterprises) mechanical engineering, in terms of productivity development and the production of innovative products and processes. Therefore, the aim of the project was to initiate a change towards an innovation-promoting corporate culture in medium-sized construction and steel construction companies.
